So my day already started this morning at 4:30am and I arrived in New Orleans at 8:30am. Sam picked me up at the airport and we went to the different ministry sites for the project I am leading here in New Orleans. As we were driving through some of the neighborhoods, I realized that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done here. There is still so many people that are in need of help.

The worst part for me is that it is mostly elderly people that are struggling. They do not have any insurance or family that can help them to make their living conditions bearable. Just yesterday Ethel visited nine houses and in all of them are senior citizens. She shared with me that only two of the nine houses can be repaired and used again. It has been seven months and most of these houses still need to be cleaned out.

I am really worried about the elderly people and where they are going to live when their homes cannot be repaired. Whenever somebody stops at one of these houses and offer help, these elderly people are in tears. It is hard for them to believe that there is still people that cares.

So many times they feel that they are only a burden to society. But I believe there is nothing further from the truth. They are precious people with so much more to offer to life. We should tap from their experience and knowledge while they are still with us.
I know that there is no one on this earth praying more for me than my own grandmother. – Is this valuable? Absolutely!!

In a nutshell – New Orleans needs help and a lot of it. Elderly people are valuable; let’s care for them. They have a special place here and in heaven.
