Clara and I, Kriek, spend the afternoon at a carepoint and I just LOVED what I saw. (Actually, I have been seeing this at a lot of the carepoints; not just today.) So what is it that I am seeing? I love seeing the older kids stepping up at the carepoints, taking more responsibility and being more involved!

Against the walls you will see name list with carepoint chores and after lesson time kids will spatter in all directions to go take care of their responsibilities. It is school holiday and the older girls are taking turns helping to cook and dish up for the younger kids. The older boys have started gardens and are doing such a good job of maintaining and watering their gardens.  (Some of them are even involving the younger kids by letting them water the gardens.) Kids are washing dishes, sweeping buildings, picking up trash and helping where they can. At some of our newer carepoints the discipleship team divided the kids into small groups and they meet on a daily basis. They pray together as a small group, share their struggles and encourage each other. And this is all led by some of the older kids! Some of the older girls are also helping their carepoint administrators with profiling and projects.

I am so proud of our staff and of the kids and I am so thankful for these things happening at the carepoints! We are making progress!

Oh …. Amy and I were each given a cabbage today by one of the proud ‘garden’ boys. It was awesome!

  7. I so clearly remember hoping, praying and dreaming of these very things for the kids… Thank you for your steadfast faithfulness. It’s been the long-term impact of people who love well (and you love so well…) that’s helped to usher in such amazingly beautiful change. It’s a wonderful way to experience God’s steady presence.

    Much love to you 🙂
